چکیده
Positive realness and bounded realness are two important issues in system theory. Some related applications about these notions include analysis and synthesis of passive networks, optimal designs in control and estimation, stability investigations in lineadnonlinear closed-loops; etc.. In this paper, we propose the equations of constant matrices, which are stabilizable and detectable realizations of impulse-free generalized state-space systems, to describe the positive real and bounded real properties. The established generalized positive real lemma and generalized bounded real lemma are necessary and sufficient. They are the extensions of results in [5], in which the statespace realizations are considered. The impulse-free generalized state-space systems contain both finite and nondynamic infinite modes. The state-space systems contain finite modes only. To express those algebraic restrictions among state variables is easier in the generalized state-space.

Matrix Inequality Characterizations for Positive Realness of Descriptor Systems
In this talk, matrix inequality characterizations for the positive realness of descriptor systems are introduced. Hence, the celebrated positive real lemma for standard state space systems is established for descriptor systems. In addition, the lossless positive realness of both standard state space systems and descriptor systems are characterized explicitly based on the controllable staircase ...
متن کاملExponentially Dissipative Nonlinear Dynamical Systems: a Nonlinear Extension of Strict Positive Realness
We extend the notion of dissipative dynamical systems to formalize the concept of the nonlinear analog of strict positive realness and strict bounded realness. In particular, using exponentially weighted system storage functions with appropriate exponentially weighted supply rates, we introduce the concept of exponential dissipativity. The proposed results provide a generalization of the strict...
متن کاملA behavioral characterization of the positive real and bounded real characteristic values in balancing
In passivity preserving and bounded realness preserving model reduction by balanced truncation, an important role is played by the so-called positive real (PR) and bounded real (BR) characteristic values. Both for the positive real aswell as the bounded real case, these values are defined in terms of the extremal solutions of the algebraic Riccati associated with the system, more precisely as t...
متن کاملEigenvalue-based algorithms for testing positive realness of SISO systems
In control and circuit theory it is important to test if the given transfer function is positive real. In this paper an efficient computational procedure for testing if a given transfer function in discrete-time is positive real is presented. The algorithm is based on the continuous-time case and uses only standard matrix computations. The input for these tests is the state-space representation...
متن کاملLMI Conditions of Strictly Bounded Realness On A State-space Realization To Bi-tangential Rational Interpolation
In this paper, we present the LMI conditions to characterize the strictly bounded realness of the state-space realization of the solution to the bi-tangential rational interpolation problem, i.e., they give the solution to the bitangential Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem [13], [3]. The bi-tangential Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem is the generalization of the classical interpolation...
